LOTOJA

a couple of weekends ago ryan did the LOTOJA. he cycled from logan, ut to jackson hole, wy. one day, 206 miles! his main goal was to just finish the darn race. this was his first time and he made it in just under 11 1/2 hours! i was so proud of him. the group he cycles with, the red burros, are crazy cyclists. one of them won the entire race, just over 9 hours. insane. each cyclist had to have a support. guess who was the lucky one for ry? that's right, me. i was not looking forward to this at all. i had heard stories that terrified me. but, honestly it was a lot of fun. i had to follow him in the car and stop at certain points to give him fresh water bottles and food. thanks to some friends, who prepped us the night before, we were totally prepared. my kids stayed with my sister, brother and mother-in-law. there was no way i could have done it with the kids there! it was nice to be in a quiet car all by myself! i listened to my music and sang my heart out. although, next year i am going to bring a book on tape or conference talks cause towards the end i was getting a little bored. the scenery was absolutely beautiful. sometimes i wonder why we live in las vegas, then i am quickly reminded of the cold, snowy winters and i am glad i am just visiting.

it was a nice get away. i love driving in the car with ryan. we talk, listen to all of our favorite npr shows (this american life, wait wait don't tell me, car talk and planet money). then we blast our favorite music and try to figure out the meaning of each song. our new favorite band right now is mumford and sons. they are wonderful. i love when bands put all different instruments in a song. like the cello and violin and trumpet. music moves me. i was bummed this was the only picture i got of ry. i didn't even bring a camera i was so nervous. i tried to take some with my phone but this was the only one that turned out. checking in the night before! until next year LOTOJA.......
