christmas

christmas is in full swing at our house.  on the first of december our elf jingle came back!  he brought a north pole breakfast (thank you kelly for the idea) with some "snow"  covered donuts, warm socks and an encouraging note.  the kids loved it.  they have been having fun waking up every morning to look for him.  in our advent calendar i put a little something it in to do each day (or a treat or small gift).  we have already been busy.  we have gone to summerlin's hometown holidays and rode the train, took a sleigh ride, decorated cookies and some other crafts.  we went to the magical forest, something my kids look forward to every year!  we had my family over on sunday night for dinner  to watch the wonderful first presidency christmas message.  monday night we had a special fhe, we talked about a service project ryan came up with.  we are going to have the kids earn money and put it in our "giving jar" then in a couple of weeks we are going to take it to the store to buy something as a family for someone in need.  i think it's a good way to help the kids feel like they have worked for it and earned it. we have also made snowflakes and received a new christmas book!  we have many more things planned and the kids are loving every minute of it.

we are especially getting excited to go to utah for christmas this year!  we can't wait to be with everyone.  i have all my christmas shopping done (well, i still need to get my mother-in-law and my mom a gift and neighbor treats out, but i feel pretty good).  i just want to enjoy this time with my little family!
