we didn't really have anything planned for spring break. because ryan and i had been gone the two weekends before, we were a little tired of traveling. we always planned to go up to utah at the end of spring break. i love being up there during conference and this year easter was the same sunday! last minute we decided to camp one night at valley of fire on our way up to utah. the first sunday of spring break jane woke up with the stomach flu (that lasted 3 days instead of 1). then wednesday (the day we were leaving to go camping) neal threw up. he didn't seem as sick as jane so we still left that afternoon. he threw up twice in the car on the way there but was pretty much fine until the morning and threw up one last time and was done.
even with neal a little sick, our camping experience was really fun. we had such a good time talking, exploring, roasting hot dogs and s'mores and looking at the stars. i was feeling really good about camping so far. then at midnight the wind started to blow like crazy! i mean so bad that the side of our tent was blowing all the way to our faces. andi woke up a little and so did jane. but the boys pretty much slept through it all. i basically didn't sleep at all that night. you could literally hear the wind 20 seconds before it hit our tent. it was crazy. as soon as the sun was up we ate, packed up and headed to utah. one night of camping is enough for me. it really was a fun night as a family. i cherish these moments with the kids. i'm selfish with our little family and love having anderson adventures together.
