michigan

a couple of fridays ago as the kids and i were walking up to the bus stop i got a phone call.  ryan was calling and telling me that we had to go to the BYU game because they may never play in the big house again!  so i got home from the bus stop and booked flights, a hotel and bought tickets to the game.  it was so crazy and i am not spontaneous at all.  i like to plan things out ahead of time.  ryan really wanted to take the boys too.  our boys love watching BYU football (especially cohen) and we thought it would be a fun little surprise for them.  luckily i have a wonderful sister who took andi and jane for the weekend without batting an eye (i can't ever ask my parents for help once football season starts because they go to e.v.e.r.y. s.i.n.g.l.e. BYU game (home and away).  

it was a super quick trip.  we got to michigan around midnight and just went to bed.  saturday morning we slept in a little bit and left the hotel around 10 and found a cute little grill for breakfast.  it was the perfect little diner complete with big griddle pancakes and eggs and bacon, oh and the hot chocolate was so good.  then we headed to the game!  the street by the opening gates was shut down and the marching band was leading a whole bunch of michigan fans into the stadium.  it was awesome, and got us really pumped for the game.  after the depressing game we went to a yummy deli, zingerman's.  that evening we spent our time in downtown ann harbor shopping and eating.  we went to bed early cause we had to get up at 4am to catch our flight home.  it was crazy.  but ryan and i have had several times that even though BYU played awful, we are still glad we went.  the boys loved it and i loved watching them bond.  ryan and i love doing things just the two of us and taking our kids on special trips with us.  i'm so glad we can do it and really hope our kids love it as much as we do.
