right before we left for newport sunday morning ryan decided he wanted to take the defender. he just had it painted and LOVES this car. the engine is really old (that's the next thing to get fixed) so he couldn't drive it. instead we had to pull it!! we had to find a uhaul that had a dolly we could put the defender on. because we had to deal with that we left later than i would have liked and it took us 7 hours to get to newport when it should have taken 4!! i was not too happy, but it was fun to drive around in california and on the last day it died at the shake shack. luckily the tow truck guy helped us get it back on the dolly so that we could just bring it home and to a shop here in vegas.
we had a few other things that went wrong. my mother in law slipped in the bathroom the first day and broke her arm. she was in a cast all week. then two pairs of andi's saltwaters and neals life jacket all got stolen from the pool. i was frustrated, but what do you do!
other than that we had a wonderful time going to the beach everyday, checking out the tide pool early one morning, swimming, tennis, balboa island and balboa bars, fun zone and eating out with just the adults! andi was excited to find a starfish on the beach alive and moving! it was pretty cool, she can find any creature. we are so grateful for such wonderful grandparents who take us every year to the beach!!
